I’m going to step away from the usual banter and explain some of the local culture here in Kansai.Okay, in Kansai, each prefecture is known for something in particular Osaka is known for food. So, there is a custom of spending more money on food than anything else. This is called “kuidaore” 食い倒れ literally meaning to become broke by spending money on food. Osaka is known for it’s many and often over-whelming restaraunt/entertainment districts. Kyoto is “kidaore” 着倒れ which the “ki” is for wearing kimono or clothing. So, spending all your money on kimono or clothing. Kyoto is known for it’s rich textile culture. Kobe is “hakidaore” 履き倒れ which the “haku” is for wearing shoes. So, spending all your money on footwear. Kobe has an abundance of shoe stores, and leather goods.
